Introduction
All men should pay attention to their personal style, which includes grooming, clothing, and other forms of self-expression. To help you look your best, here are 10 tips on how to improve your style using simple beauty tips that most people don’t know about. There’s also a bonus tip at the end that isn’t beauty related but can have a big impact on your overall appearance and confidence. Learn the things you can do now to be more attractive and find out why the simple things work so well!
1) Wear shoes that are comfortable
It’s hard to have a great day if your feet hurt. Make sure you wear shoes that feel good on your feet so you can take part in all of life’s adventures. Many people tend to wear comfortable sneakers, but it is also important to have at least one pair of stylish shoes to go out in. Wearing comfortable shoes every day isn’t too bad either! Whatever you do, just make sure that whatever you choose, it feels good and doesn’t pinch or rub any part of your foot or toes.
2) Match your belt to your shoes
A belt is meant to be matched with shoes and a rule of thumb is that if your belt is darker than your shoes, you’ll always look sharp. If it’s lighter, you risk looking like you borrowed them from your grandfather. A darker brown belt will also give off a more conservative appearance as opposed to one that matches your shoes which can make you appear flighty. The easy way to remember which kind of belt to wear when is by matching its color to what’s in a fruit basket: If there are apples, bananas and oranges in there, then you need an apple-colored belt; if there are apples and peaches, choose peach; otherwise go brown.
3) Unbutton your shirt before sitting down
A trick you can use to improve your posture is to unbutton your shirt before sitting down. This will force you to stay in proper sitting form, as it’s nearly impossible to slouch when wearing a partially unbuttoned shirt. It’s also worth noting that leaving your top button open is flattering and makes your neckline appear wider. Furthermore, it opens up space for an interesting accent like a piece of jewelry or a colorful tie. Women dig that! If you still have trouble maintaining good posture, consider investing in a back brace—they make sitting up straight much easier.
4) Stand up straight!
One of the most important factors in a man’s appearance is his posture. The right posture can make a man look more confident and powerful, while poor posture can make him appear weak and insecure. Standing up straight is not only essential to good health but also an easy way to improve your image. Keep your shoulders back and chest out, pull your stomach in, hold your head high and you’ll feel better right away. Your new height will add inches to your frame as well, making you look better too!
5) Make sure you smell good
Always make sure you smell good before leaving your house. Make sure you are groomed. Get a haircut and buy some new clothes. All of these things will help you feel confident about yourself when approaching women. When you feel good about yourself, it will be easier to talk to them without stuttering or becoming nervous and awkward.
6) Get a stylist
It’s not as expensive as you think. A great stylist can help you maintain your look and keep everything looking sharp. Stylists know what is in style, they understand how to achieve your personal style goals and ultimately, they help save you money. Even if it seems like a waste of money, a good stylist will actually save you time and money in shopping (and more importantly – clothes hanging in your closet). If nothing else, take one day per month to get a free makeover from your local beauty shop or salon. It’ll refresh your look while giving them some business! Win-win!
7) Use hair products
According to celebrity stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, If you want your hair to look good, use products in it. For thick coarse hair like mine, I use a hair cream or pomade. If you have fine hair and need volume, apply mousse to damp hair; let it dry naturally or blow-dry. Mousse is great for a messy style or tousled look. Mizrahi suggests that you read labels on whatever product you choose and make sure it’s formulated for your type of hair and holds up in heat and humidity.
8) For facial hair - Keep it short, neat and clean up after yourself.
While it’s in vogue to have a beard, no one likes a scruffy guy. No matter what type of facial hair you’re rocking, make sure to keep it clean and presentable; a five o’clock shadow can become as unkempt as something far more extreme—or even patchy. A goatee or full-on beard? Keep it trimmed so that your face is framed by hair. Sideburns? Check out tutorials on YouTube to find out how to get them just right. Stubble?
9) Take care of your skin by using the right products.
Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it doesn’t just look bad when you have a pimple or bruise – if your skin isn’t properly cared for, you can actually be putting yourself at risk. The first step in taking care of your skin is finding products that work for you. Using moisturizer every day can help prevent and treat wrinkles and other signs of aging later on, so don’t skip it! And if you have oily or combination skin, oil-free or gel-based moisturizers are going to do a better job.
10) Shine on!
If you find yourself using only a few grooming products, ask yourself why. If it’s because you don’t know how to use more than one product, then it’s time to start experimenting. Using more products is one of easiest ways to change your look in an instant—something every man should learn.
